Welcome to my first-ever post under a special series called Kiddie Kit! Inspired by Divasoria's Glossy series, this is a junior version where you’ll see the hygiene products and other items that parents buy for their kids.

Of course, this first post is all about Sadako.

Sadako is pretty low maintenance when it comes to hygiene products. She has no special needs so she doesn’t need to use specialty products, which are usually expensive. Thank God!

BATH TIME

  
Sadako uses Human Nature’s Kids Natural Shampoo and Body wash for Girls, the Ocean Apple variant. It costs a little more than some shampoo brands but I don’t mind coz it has no harmful chemicals and we trust the brand. In fact, I plan to switch to other Human Nature products for Sadako in the very near future.

AFTER BATH TIME

She hasn’t been using lotion lately, which is bad, I know. Coz moisturizing is super important and you can never start too young, right? so yes, I’m looking for a really good lotion for her.

TEETH TIME


Sadako uses Kodomo or Fluocaril toothpaste because that is what I buy her. But whenever we’re at the supermarket and we ask her to choose a toothpaste, she gets those from Hapee or Colgate because they usually have characters like Mickey Mouse or Barbie on the box.

OTHER ESSENTIALS


I’ve always been afraid of dengue so I make sure we have Human Nature’s Bug Shield Mosquito Repellant, which is all-natural and DEET-free. We also have a steady supply of wipes. Recently we’ve been using Giggles Baby Wipes. I like using the unscented type and the one that comes in plastic lid/cover (96 wipes) so that the wipes inside remain "fresh" and moist.

I loved singing and performing for relatives and guests at home when I was young. One time, when I was about four years old, my mother asked me to sing Tomorrow for our relatives who were visiting. TAO NA!

I’ve always found the expression “Tao na!” (used to describe a baby who’s already acting like a big kid or an adult) hilarious, but I found myself using it a couple of hours ago when Sadako kept on bugging Honeybun, my sister and I while we were enjoying our shawarma pizza dinner. To shut her up, we offered her a bite. As it turned out, she wanted more than just a bite. Good thing we didn’t put hot sauce on all the slices. Tao na!

HIGH ON HI-5

Some years ago, back when my now-1-year old daughter Sadako wasn’t even an idea yet, I came across an article about how supposedly bad TV is for babies and young kids. I now don’t remember the boob tube’s bad effects on little ones (although I really should Google that), but whatever they are, my daughter must already be suffering from them because watching TV has been a daily habit for her for half a year now. Blame me and my girlfriend, Honeybun; we always have the TV set turned on. Apart from being soothing background noise, we discovered that it can be some sort of a babysitter, too. For example, certain commercials would make our daughter stop crying or catch her attention long enough for us to squeeze in drops of yucky medicine inside her mouth. Sadako is picky, though, so we bought a stack of DVDs and VCDs to entertain her whenever her favorite commercials aren’t on air.
